Back in November, I came down to Nashville with a plan.
“Make a record, start finding musicians, start booking shows.”
I surprised myself a little bit when I actually did all of those things. There was never much money, but always a lot of support and good vibes from the people back home. When I went home for Christmas, weary and tired, the question I heard most was: “When are you going back to Nashville?” Nobody wanted me to feel comfortable at home. Kinda cruel, but very encouraging.
In late January, I came back to Nashville to solidify my band. On the drive down, I knew what guys I was gonna use and I was super excited. But, within a day of arriving, half of my boys told me they could no longer commit. Dun dun dun! So I had to start finding new guys. Back to Craigslist I went …
Three weeks later, I have a band again – and THESE guys are excited about getting on the road. So today is when the rubber hits the road …
BAND PRACTICE.
How are these songs gonna sound live? We’ll find out. How are these new guys gonna get along? We’ll find out. Is there going to be awkwardness or immediate chemistry? We’ll find out.
I’m nervous because I had originally planned to rehearse for the whole month. Now all we have is a week. If you pray, please pray for us to get through things quickly, have great ideas and remember everything we work on.
–
I’ll be pretty off-the-radar for the next week since we’ll be practicing in to the dark expanse of early morning. But I’ll update whenever I can.
I want to sincerely thank everybody who encouraged me to move down to Nashville. I never thought that I would and I doubted whether or not I could … But now all of those ponderings, dreams and plans are becoming reality.
Let’s see how this goes.
