Below is an excerpt of my “Chuck” review for the episode that aired last night. To read the whole thing, go here.

If you’re not familiar with Chuck, let me bring you up to speed.
Chuck is a computer nerd working at the fictional Best Buy equivalent, Buy More, in Burbank, CA. When top-secret CIA computer software is downloaded into his brain, Chuck is suddenly turned into a super spy with limitless potential. The only problem? He’s not used to all this spy stuff and sometimes, when his doltish emotions get in the way, his super-spy powers don’t work at all.
The first thing to notice about this season is that they’ve added to the cast: former Superman actor Brandon Routh, who plays Agent Daniel Shaw and former Smallville co-star Kristin Kreuk, who plays Hannah.
With new characters comes the possibility of different story options and more interesting sub plots: This episode exhibits those dynamics with panache. Just as romance is beginning to brew between Chuck and new Buy More employee Hannah, the super-nerd is forced on a mission with Sarah, his spy-partner and former girlfriend. As the plots of terrorists start heating to a boiling point, so does Hannah’s jealousy. And Chuck has to juggle his personal and spy lives – while keeping everybody alive in the process.
